Belated New Year // What I Wore + My Resolution

{dress//Target via thrift store :: necklace//Betsy Johnson :: belt//Franchesca's Collections :: boots//Dansko lipstick//Kat Von D Painted Love in Underage Red}
Well this is an extremely late outfit post. This is actually what I wore for New Years Eve. The gold embroidery on the dress seemed very festive, and I lined my lower lash-line with a gold metallic eyeshadow pencil, to spice up my makeup for the occasion.

I can't believe it's 2014 already! It feels like it was *just* 2012 and I was graduating high school, and now I've been out of school for two years and am twenty years old. Where does the time go??

Speaking of the new year, did any of you make any interesting new year resolutions? My resolution this year is to live my life more boldly. I feel like I let my laziness shyness dictate a lot of my life. Like, when confronted with the choice of going out with friends, or staying at home with my Netflix account, it's really hard for me to resist the urge to stay in my jim jams bingeing on sci-fi shows. This year, however, I want to work on that. I want to go out more, say the things I'm too scared to say and all around just take control of life again.

Whatever your resolution this year, I hope you succeed. Let's kick 2014 in the butt!

Skull and Crossbones // What I Wore

Lately I've been drawn to unusually casual outfits. Not that this is really casual, but coming from the girl who wore dresses seven times out of ten this sudden addiction to jeans feels so out of place. Seriously, though, I want almost every pair of jeans I see in stores. No joke.The skull pattern of this blouse is also out of character for me - I think something about being almost 20 is making me crave pieces with a little bit more "grown up" or "edgy: feel.

On another note, what do you all think of my purple, dip-dyed hair? I never thought I'd experiment with colored hair, but Katy Perry's purple hair was just too tempting not to attempt! It's faded into a warmer purple since I dyed it over a month ago, so one of these nights I'm going to slap some more purple over it. Maybe I'll do that today since I have the day off...

I have to work tomorrow (one of the many joys of working retail is that you have to work three out of four Saturdays. Awesome.) but I took today off since I had a concert last night and I knew I'd be getting back late. It also allows me to catch a matinee of Thor 2: The Dark World - or, as I like to call it "Loki three!" But really, is anyone actually going to this movie for Chris Hemsworth?

Who else is going to see Thor 2 this weekend?

Designer Skyline // What I Wore

{photos courtesy of Laura and Hannah}

I had so many photos from the Blog Days of Summer picnic, that I decided to split them up into two posts, and this is my proper "outfit post" post. *wink*

I've always been really interesting in traveling, and I was so, so excited to see Ohio and Pennsylvania for the first time, but the best part by far was getting to hang out with so many lovely gals! Laura and I ended up (by a really amazing set of parallel circumstances) sharing a hotel room - despite the fact that we'd only talked once or twice before this trip. In all honesty, I was more than a little nervous that we wouldn't end up getting along and it would be really awkward, but when it came down to it, it was really more like preschool- instant BFFs! Seriously, within the first two hours of meeting Laura, Hannah and I were crashing in my hotel room venting about crappy former-love interests. (What did you expect from three teenagers/20-somethings??) And I was so, so sad to say goodbye to her. For reals, you guys, if you've never checked out her blog do it now because she is such a doll. ♥

I don't really have all that many photos of the dinner after the picnic or the brunch on Sunday (I looked like such a mess on Sunday due to a wardrobe emergency and not having a blow dryer in my hotel room. Grrr!) but I'm probably going to do one more Pittsburgh with some random posts of Pittsburgh in general. Just as soon as I finish editing those pics... Ugh! Let's do that next week, kay? Kay.
